This is one of those questions where we could probably talk all day!

The best location depends on your venue, the time of day, the season and the weather, so we don't have one standard list that we send every couple. We’ll look at your wedding plans and work out where the light and landscape will work best for your day.

We’re lucky to have an incredible variety of locations right here in Port Stephens.

Nelson Bay Lighthouse is a favourite for dramatic coastal views for wedding ceremonies. Barry Park at Fingal Bay gives you those incredible rock formations, ocean views and a more wild, windswept feeling, especially at sunset.

For something more relaxed and sandy, One Mile Beach and Shoal Bay are beautiful, while Zenith Beach gives you that incredible combination of sand, turquoise water and surrounding headlands.

And then there are the quieter little spots that we know from photographing weddings here over the years — places where we can sometimes get away from the crowds and find beautiful light without taking you too far from your guests.

That's one of the advantages of having a local Port Stephens wedding photographer. We don't just know the obvious locations. We know how they change throughout the day and which ones work best depending on the season, weather and light.

One of the reasons we love photographing weddings in Port Stephens is that we really do have beautiful conditions throughout much of the year.

Spring and autumn are particularly lovely for outdoor and beach weddings. The temperatures are generally comfortable, and you can spend plenty of time outside without the heat of midsummer.

Summer is gorgeous if you're dreaming of a classic beach wedding. The longer days mean beautiful late sunsets and plenty of time for photographs, although popular beaches and holiday areas can get very busy over the school holidays.

If you're planning a summer wedding, we'll help you work around that when we put together your timeline.

Winter can be surprisingly beautiful here too. The cooler temperatures are often much more comfortable for walking around in a wedding dress or suit, and the lower winter sun can give us gorgeous warm light. The days are shorter, though, so we'll pay particular attention to your ceremony time and make sure we take advantage of that beautiful sunset light.

And honestly, a little bit of weather doesn't necessarily worry us. Cloud can create gorgeous soft light, wind can make a veil photograph beautifully, and even a little rain can give your wedding photographs atmosphere.

The key is knowing the area and planning around the conditions. We’ve photographed enough weddings around Port Stephens to know how quickly the light can change from one side of the peninsula to the other, which is why we always consider the season, your venue and your exact timeline when planning your photography.

Our approach is candid and photojournalistic, which means we spend most of the day quietly observing and capturing moments as they naturally unfold. Rather than interrupting the day with constant directions, we allow your story to happen and we want you to enjoy spend time with your family, hug your friends, enjoy your reception, and celebrate!

We provide gentle guidance when needed, but we never overpose or force awkward positions.

Golden hour - shortly after sunrise or before sunset — offers the most flattering light, especially for beach locations like Shoal Bay and One Mile Beach. We always help plan your timeline to make the most of these conditions.

Yes! We know that it is very common for wedding photographers to present styled shoots as their wedding portfolios.

Styled shoots are done under conditions that the photographer fully controls: professional models, no time constraint, no stress, no change of weather and a lot of take 2s!

Unfortunately, they do not accurately represent the ability of the photographer to work in real-life situations or the quality and style of photographs that will be delivered to a client.

We'll visit your location before your wedding, even if we've photographed there many times before! We'll look at where the light will be, consider the time of year and work out the best options for your portraits.

On the day, our approach is relaxed and unobtrusive. We'll guide you when you need it, particularly during portraits, but we're also there to capture everything happening naturally around you.

You don't need to spend your wedding day worrying about where the best photos will happen. That's our job.

To secure your wedding date, we will send you your wedding contract, and we require a booking fee of $950.
