Saltwater Weddings
at Fingal Bay
Saltwater is one of our favourite wedding venues in Port Stephens. As local Port Stephens wedding photographers, we've had the privilege of photographing many weddings here over the years, giving us an in-depth understanding of the venue, the best photo locations, and the ideal times of day to capture its stunning coastal light.
Where is Saltwater located? Saltwater Restaurant is located at Port Stephens in the beautiful and idyllic Australian coastal town of Fingal Bay. More specifically, Saltwater is a stone’s throw away from Fingal Beach. Perched above the Surf Life Savings Club, it boasts breathtaking ocean views of Fingal Beach and beyond.

One of the best things about a Saltwater wedding is the flexibility. You can choose to marry at the venue or at one of Port Stephens' stunning ceremony locations, with everything just a short drive away.
A favourite for many couples is Barry Park in Fingal Bay. Just minutes from Saltwater, it offers sweeping views over Fingal Beach, a private grassy ceremony space, and beautiful photo opportunities along the boardwalk, coastal rocks, and bushland—especially at sunset.
If you prefer to keep everything in one place, Saltwater's private oceanfront balcony is perfect for both your ceremony and reception. It offers plenty of space for guests and breathtaking panoramic ocean views.
And if the weather doesn't cooperate, don't worry. We've photographed beautiful indoor ceremonies at Saltwater, including one on the wettest day of the year. Rain never stopped them from having an unforgettable wedding.

One of the biggest advantages of a Saltwater wedding is having some of Port Stephens' most beautiful photo locations just minutes away.
Barry Park is our favourite spot for wedding portraits. Just a short drive from Saltwater, it offers everything that makes Port Stephens special—coastal bushland, panoramic ocean views, the boardwalk, and dramatic rocky headlands. We love starting here to give couples a quiet moment together before exploring the rocks at sunset for some of our signature wedding images.
Fingal Beach, right in front of Saltwater, is perfect for relaxed bridal party photos. Kick off your shoes, walk along the sand, and enjoy the beautiful beach before heading back to your reception.
Box Beach is a hidden local favourite. It's usually quieter during peak wedding season, making it ideal for intimate portraits with its striking rock formations and coastal scenery.
For wet weather, Little Beach and Nelson Bay Lighthouse are both excellent options. Little Beach offers beautiful jetty photos with the resident pelicans, while Nelson Bay Lighthouse provides stunning views and sheltered areas if it rains.

Being local Port Stephens wedding photographers means we know all the best locations, but we still scout each one before your wedding. We visit at the same time as your scheduled portraits to see exactly how the light is falling and make any adjustments if needed. It's one of the little things we do to make sure your wedding photos are as beautiful as possible.

We’re always interested in our couples’ stories and what draws them to a wedding venue. Most of our couples choose to have weddings at Saltwater because they have grown up holidaying in Port Stephens and wanted to recreate those positive feelings that they had as children. They are immediately drawn to the intimate yet open space that Saltwater offers. It has an understated elegance that you can enjoy as is or add your personal touch.
As for the service, we can personally vouch that wedding guests are well taken care of and the staff is always attentive and professional.
