Newcastle has some fantastic photography locations, and we love the variety — from beaches and headlands to heritage buildings and more unexpected urban locations.

Merewether Beach is definitely one of our favourites, with the beach, rocks, ocean and beautiful evening light giving us plenty of variety. King Edward Park, Newcastle Beach and Bar Beach are also great options for coastal photographs.

For something a little different, Carrington Pump House is a fantastic spot for photographs. Its historic industrial architecture gives your gallery a completely different feel from the usual beach photographs, and it works particularly well if you want to bring a little bit of Newcastle's industrial character into your wedding story.

If you're getting married at Stanley Park gives you a wonderful combination of gardens, heritage architecture and coastal scenery.

As always, we'll consider your venue, your timeline and the light before recommending where to go.

Newcastle is beautiful year-round, so there isn't really one best time to get married. It really comes down to the kind of wedding you’re dreaming of.

Spring and autumn are particularly lovely for outdoor weddings, with comfortable temperatures and beautiful light. Summer is perfect for beach weddings and those long, warm evenings, although popular beaches can be busier around school holidays. Winter brings cooler days and beautiful low, golden light, and can be a lovely choice if you prefer a quieter time of year.

Whatever season you choose, we’ll help you plan around the light, weather and your venue so you can make the most of your day.

The hour or so before sunset is often beautiful, especially around Newcastle's beaches and coastline. The light becomes softer and warmer, and it can create that beautiful glow we love in wedding portraits.

We'll look at your ceremony time, venue, season and check out the light to work out the best opportunities for photographs.

And yes, if the sunset is looking spectacular, we may sneak you away for a few minutes to make the most of it!

Don't panic! It very rarely rains continuously all day in Newcastle, so even if you get a shower, there's usually an opportunity to work around it.

And we're not afraid of a little rain. Sometimes an umbrella, wet streets and a bit of atmospheric weather can actually make for some beautiful and unexpected photographs.

We also do some location spotting before your wedding, so we'll already have a plan if the weather decides not to cooperate. We'll look for sheltered areas, covered spaces and alternative locations around your venue where we can still create beautiful photographs without you getting soaked.

And if it stops raining for five minutes? We'll be ready to head outside!

The most important thing is that you don't spend your wedding day worrying about the weather. We'll keep an eye on what's happening and adapt as we go.

Our approach is candid and photojournalistic, which means we spend most of the day quietly observing and capturing moments as they naturally unfold. Rather than interrupting the day with constant directions, we allow your story to happen and we want you to enjoy spend time with your family, hug your friends, enjoy your reception, and celebrate!

We provide gentle guidance when needed, but we never overpose or force awkward positions.

We know that it is very common for wedding photographers to present styled shoots as their wedding portfolios.

Styled shoots are done under conditions that the photographer fully controls: professional models, no time constraint, no stress, no change of weather and a lot of take 2s!

Unfortunately, they do not accurately represent the ability of the photographer to work in real-life situations or the quality and style of photographs that will be delivered to a client.

We are proud that all the photographs you see on our portfolio were taken from real weddings with couples just like you. So what you see is what you get!
