How do we select the ‘Best’ photos of the year?

From a technical point of view, the best photos are about a compelling composition with lighting to match. While we absolutely agree with this, when we look back through all the wedding photos we’ve done at the end of the year, the ‘best’ photos are always the ones that bring back memories to us. Whether it was the challenge of creating the image, a burst of inspiration, the connection we had with the couple, a fun moment with them or a joke uttered that illicits a laugh!

Our favourite photos are those that transport us to the fleeting time when the photograph was taken. Those that make us feel long after they were taken. Those that make us wonder what the subject was feeling and thinking. Those that force us to see the story behind the photograph. And especially those that inspire us to see the ordinary as an extraordinary.
