An engagement photoshoot or a pre-wedding shoot is a way to announce your love to the world through photographs. Being together is a celebration in itself and often couples choose to celebrate the precious time just before their wedding by having a pre-wedding session! With so many amazing locations from Port Stephens, Newcastle, Hunter Valley and Sydney, we’re more than happy to create photographs like these for you to remember

Why have an Engagement Photoshoot?

1.  Let’s get to know each other - It’s a chance for me to see your connection, how you interact and those subtle things that you share that make you unique as a couple (like the way you look at each other). It’s also a way for us to get to know each other. Remember I will be there with you on your wedding day! Having a pre-wedding shoot is a way for us to build a rapport in a much more relaxed setting. I love having a laugh with my couples throughout the shoot and usually at the end of the session, we both feel like we know each other as friends not just as “client and photographer.”

2. Be more comfortable in front of the camera -  We always hear from couples that they don’t feel comfortable in front of the camera. Having an engagement photoshoot is a way to calm the nerves and enjoy the process! A few minutes into the shoot, I guarantee that you will forget the camera! And on your wedding day, having a camera pointed at you will not feel as threatening as it sounds.

3. Trust in my capability as a photographer - It’s always nice to hear feedback from couples after seeing their engagement photos that they feel much more excited about their wedding day and that they’re even more sure they picked the right photographer for their wedding day! A pre-wedding shoot is a way to have total trust in me which allows you to just enjoy your wedding day and not worry about anything else.

4. Creativity that we can plan - This gives us a chance to really plan the engagement shoot to create a series of couple portraits that is only limited by what you both like! We can choose the location, the best time and what you feel represent you as a couple - all of these together aren’t possible during a wedding day as we have to follow a certain schedule.

5. Bond together as a couple - A pre-wedding shoot is a chance for you to do something fun together and focus on each other. Treat it like a prelude to a great date night. Usually, the best time to do a shoot is at sunset, so why not extend the celebration by booking a dinner date?

6. Photos that you can use for your wedding day - Couples often choose a photograph from the session to be framed or printed as a canvas to display at their wedding reception. It’s also perfect for Save the Date, a wedding website and a guest book.
