IIf you’re looking for a wedding venue that is a little different, Taronga Zoo is hard to beat. Where else can you say “I do” surrounded by animals while overlooking some of the best views of Sydney Harbour?

The zoo has several wedding spaces, from intimate celebrations to larger weddings, with Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge views creating an incredible backdrop for your guests. It’s also a particularly memorable choice if you have family or friends travelling from overseas, as they get to experience a very special part of Sydney at the same time as celebrating your wedding.

And, of course, there is the added excitement of being able to have your wedding photographs around the zoo and, depending on your plans, with some of its famous residents.

Taronga Zoo gives us so much variety and fun! You have the animals and beautiful zoo grounds, but you also have Sydney Harbour, bushland, water and the city skyline all within the surrounding area.

We love photographs that feel connected to the place you’ve chosen to get married, and Taronga Zoo gives us plenty of opportunities to create something that feels completely different from a traditional wedding venue.

There is also something pretty special about having your wedding photographs taken around the zoo after it closes to visitors. It gives the experience a completely different atmosphere and can make your wedding portraits feel like part of the adventure.

Yes, this is one of the things that makes a Taronga Zoo wedding so unique. Couples can have photographs taken around the zoo grounds and, depending on the arrangements and access available on the day, photographs can include some of the zoo’s famous residents.

There is something pretty unforgettable about having a wedding photograph with an animal in the background!

There are plenty of options within Taronga Zoo itself, but we can also make use of the incredible locations surrounding the zoo.

Depending on your timeline, we can look at places such as Bradleys Head, Sydney Harbour National Park, Clifton Gardens and Chowder Bay, giving you a mix of bushland, water and Sydney Harbour views.

This variety means your wedding photographs don’t all have to look the same. We can capture the excitement of the zoo, the natural surroundings and the iconic Sydney landscape, creating a collection of photographs that really tells the story of your day.

Afternoon and late-day light are always the ideal time for wedding photos including at Taronga Zoo, especially when the light starts to soften across Sydney Harbour and the surrounding bushland.

If your ceremony is earlier in the day, we can absolutely work with the available light and find beautiful locations around the zoo.

If sunset is later in the evening, we can also plan to step outside during your reception for a few extra photographs as the light becomes softer. It can be a lovely opportunity to have a few minutes together without missing much of your celebration.

We’ll talk through all of this during your wedding preparation meeting and work out where the best opportunities for photographs fit naturally into your day.

We’ll make the most of everything Taronga Zoo and its incredible Sydney Harbour setting have to offer. The animals, surrounding bushland, water, harbour views and city skyline all give us opportunities to create photographs that feel connected to your wedding and the place you chose to celebrate it. And we love working with animals!

But we’re also looking beyond the scenery. We’ll be watching for the genuine moments happening throughout your day — the excitement when you first see each other, your friends laughing, a hug from family, your reactions to the animals or those little moments between the two of you that you may not even realise are happening.

We’ll guide you when needed, particularly when we’re making the most of the zoo and surrounding locations, but we don’t want your wedding to feel like a photoshoot. Our goal is to combine the incredible setting with natural, candid photographs that capture what your Taronga Zoo wedding actually felt like.
