Here are our tips to make your family session much more enjoyable and easier for the whole family.

Kids

A well-rested kid is a happy kid! Please make sure your young kids have a nap before the session. This will ensure that your family photo session runs smoothly when the little ones are happy. We want them to have fun and enjoy the photo session as much as the adults.

Spontaneous

We love to capture the natural interaction between families and to show you having fun! The photoshoot will be done spontaneously as you walk along the beach or a park depending.

Please don’t take anything with you that you don’t want to show on the photographs for example handbags, huge jackets that you may want to take off or kids’ bags.

What to wear?

Do we need to wear the same style of clothing?

Definitely not!

As a general rule, keeping your attire simple allows for the focus to stay on you. But this doesn’t mean that you have to wear the same white top and jeans or just one colour – in fact, contrasting colours can work very well and can be visually interesting.

Think of the ‘look and feel’ that you’d like to convey: light colours and flowing materials for bright and airy; smart casual clothing for modern and fun like summer dresses, linen shirts and shorts; long shirts and dresses for a more formal look.

We suggest that you take out the clothes that you’re thinking of wearing and put them side by side to see if they work.

What to avoid?

The only thing you have to avoid are clothing with huge logos, pictures or writing.

Make-up

Our advice is always less is more. Just even out skin tone but there’s no need to fully cover up. Focus on the eyes or the lips.

An outdoor shoot is different to a studio shoot – if you look in the mirror and you think it’s too much, then it most likely is.

You want to feel comfortable. You have to make up for yourself and not for the camera. Bottom line is – if you feel good and comfortable this will show on the photos.

Time

Please arrive on time. This will ensure everyone is relaxed when the shoot commences, and we make the most of the time we have.

Let’s have fun!

Now that we’re all ready! Let’s have fun and enjoy the family photo session!
