Let’s get married at the Zoo! Ellen & Daniel’s Taronga Zoo Wedding.

Child at heart? Why not get married at the zoo? That’s just what Ellen & Daniel did when they chose Sydney’s famous Taronga Zoo for their wedding venue.

Their wedding day started with Ellen’s bridal preparation at Quay West, at Sydney’s The Rocks. From her hotel room, you can see the landmarks that make the city of Sydney famous: The Opera House and the Harbour Bridge – and well… they were the perfect backdrop for the bride’s getting ready and a photo of her bridal shoes! Ellen had such a big smile during this time with her bridesmaids and her parents, and this smile she would wear with such gusto throughout the wedding day!

Earlier on the day, Daniel had his groom preparation in Newtown with his parents who came all the way from Ireland, and his groomsmen. Newtown is such a lively suburb of Sydney with its famous Street Art Walk providing us with some wonderful backgrounds for the groom portrait shots.

It is always nice to see weddings that incorporate cultural traditions into their ceremony. For Ellen&Daniel, it was the traditions of a Filipino wedding.

The wedding ceremony was held at the Blessed Sacrament in Mosman. It was heartening to see Daniel take the hand of Ellen’s father to do the old tradition of “Mano”. This is a wonderful, but sadly disappearing, tradition in the Philippines where a young person places the hand of an elderly to his/her forehead as a sign of respect, and whereby the elderly gives the younger person blessings. The rest of the wedding ceremony were filled with the Filipino wedding traditions: the coins, the lighting of the candles, the veil (a veil is placed on both the bride and the groom to symbolise they are each other’s protection, and their unity) and the cord around them to symbolise the couple’s unbreakable bond.

After the ceremony, the couple along with their bridal party left for Sydney Harbour National Park to do some location wedding photos. We had heaps of fun and laughter doing this shoot and, then we did some more couple portraits at Taronga Zoo. Ellen & Daniel later joined their wedding guests at Taronga Function Centre for their wedding reception. Some of the guests pulled some crazy dance moves during the party, and here’s what Ellen& Daniel had to say afterwards:

On the wedding day:

1 ~ What made you laugh? “The speeches and our guests dancing!”
2 ~ What made you cry? “Ellen walking down the aisle and seeing her friends..”
3 ~ What made you pull your hair? “When they were removing the veil and the cord, it got caught in the wedding veil and literally pulled Ellen’s hair”
4 ~ Finish this sentence: If I knew what I know now I would… “Not have worried about the weather, 1 months worth of rain in a day was predicted but turned out to be beautiful sunshine.”
5 ~ To other couples Make sure you… “Trust your suppliers.”

WE LOOK FORWARD TO HEARING FROM YOU.
