Small Wedding – Run away to Paradise at Port Stephens
Small Wedding | Port Stephens is the perfect place to give your wedding the intimacy it deserves.
Small wedding or an elopement proves that you don’t have to have a big wedding for it to be great! I have photographed intimate weddings that are just as beautiful and emotionally charged as big weddings. So, what exactly is considered a “small wedding”? Personally, I think if you have 20 guests or less then it is considered a small wedding. On the other hand, an elopement is mostly just you, your partner, your celebrant and witnesses. Sometimes couples even ask me if I can be a witness, which of course, I am extremely honoured to accept!
Why have a small wedding?
A lot of my couples who decided to have a small wedding just wanted a celebration that was relaxed and simple, and just surrounded by their closest family and friends. The plus side about having it in Port Stephens is that there are so many wonderful, secluded locations where you can have your ceremony. The locations will give you privacy and you’d really feel as if you have ran away to a paradise!
Having an intimate wedding doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to skip having photographs of your bridal and groom preparations. In fact, a lot of couples feel that this is a necessary part of the day, as it sets the tone of your wedding day and brings all different kind of emotions. So if you feel that you want to include both of your preparations, then I strongly encourage you to do so, as this is one of my favourite parts of the day.
Here are some of the couples who have recently chosen Port Stephens for their special day:
Scarlett & Jeff
Ceremony at Shoal Bay Beach ~ Lunch reception at Saltwater Restaurant, Fingal Bay
As a future Mrs Nelson, Scarlett picked Nelson Bay for their ceremony, albeit she had never been in Nelson Bay before! She asked me if I could help her find the perfect location for her ceremony. I checked different locations at the time of her ceremony and Shoal Bay beach was the perfect choice. With rising dramatic rocks and white sandy beach, its seclusion gives your wedding a touch of paradise.

Kirsty & Mitchell
Ceremony & reception at Nelson Bay Golf Club
For many couples, one of the reasons they choose Port Stephens for their small wedding destination, is because one or both of them grew up holidaying in Port Stephens. The place holds beautiful memories and naturally, they would like to come back to their happy place. Such is the case for Kirsty & Mitchell who opted for an intimate ceremony and reception at Nelson Bay Golf Club.

Becky & Dan
Ceremony at Corlette Beach, The Anchorage
Becky and Dan have spent a couple of times holidaying in Port Stephens and stayed at The Anchorage. So when the time came for them to tie the knot, they decided to invite their parents to holiday with them at Port Stephens, and to witness their beach wedding. The whole event was even made more special, as Becky was walked down the ‘aisle’ by her two older children. Their beach wedding was indeed a family affair!
