Beachside Pregnancy Session at Port Stephens

Pregnancy Photographer | Birubi Beach, Port Stephens

Kate knew exactly what she wanted for her maternity session. She chose the location at Birubi Beach in the beautiful Port Stephens, and I am happy with this as it’s one of my favourite places for portrait location! It’s got everything that a pregnancy photographer could ask for: beautiful beach, lots of rocks to climb on (even when you’re pregnant!), bush and sand dunes. And when you have the photoshoot at sunset, it’s just magical.

Kate was 25 weeks pregnant when she first contacted me. I told her that the best time to do the maternity photoshoot is between 29 to 36 weeks. This is the time when a pregnant woman is definitely showing the beautiful baby bump and yet still feel comfortable. She said that she’s petite so she’s definitely showing! I cannot argue with that, so we booked the photoshoot straight away.

We had to postpone the maternity shoot a couple of times due to the not so perfect weather condition. I really wanted for her shoot to be absolutely on point, and I am glad that we waited for that perfect blue-sky kind of day. Kate was wearing a beautiful flowing white maternity gowns that’s perfect for maternity photo session, and she was simply glowing with happiness.

Kate was joined by her partner, Daniel, who was just as equally thrilled for the baby’s upcoming arrival. I love seeing how couples are totally besotted with their baby even before he or she arrives! Kate and Daniel have already picked their bub’s name and wrote it in the sand (I promised them not to reveal it here!). It will be amazing for Kate and Daniel’s baby to look at these photographs in the future, and see how he or she is already truly loved! As I said before, although maternity photography or baby photos are done by the parents, they really are for the children who will find these photographs enthralling in the future – it’s a small yet significant part of their history.

(ps. I get a few emails asking if I do maternity photography in Newcastle. And the answer is yes! If you live in Newcastle and interested in doing pregnancy photography in Newcastle and surrounds, please contact me and we can chat.)
