Kendall and Matthew just knew that they found the perfect venue as soon as they arrived in Sylvan Glen Country Estate. “The guest house with it’s beautiful country backdrop was a great place to relax with our friends over the weekend. It was simple and rustic but with the little touches (the shepherds hut for the girls to get ready, the boys room with fire place and pool table, the odd chandelier) made it a little bit special. The owners (Matt and Donna) were a major drawcard also, they made it clear that we could do our wedding our way and they made sure everything ran smoothly on the day which made it really stress free for us.”
Focusing on the things that were important to them and deliberately not doing the things they didn’t care about ensured that the wedding was a true reflection of who they are. “We decided that the things that mattered to us we would organise early (for us it was our bridal party and invitations because we wanted our friends and guests to feel special, a piper for the ceremony, and a photographer that would capture the day naturally, and the things that didn’t matter enough to organise early didn’t matter enough to get stressed about on the day (so many things were not ‘perfect’, but worked out perfectly anyway!).”
Kendall and Matthew wanted their ceremony to be a celebration. The personalised beer and cider for guests as they arrived was a thoughtful touch and set the tone for a celebratory mode. “We had rose petals for them to throw, and a piper, which was a surprise for the groom and his Scottish family. Our celebrant was amazing to work with and managed to conduct the perfect ceremony for us – serious at times, funny at times, and kept us at ease even though being the centre of attention doesn’t come naturally to either of us.”
As for working with Florent Vidal on the wedding day, “From our first contact to the end of the day we knew he would capture the day the way we wanted – relaxed and natural. He had many good ideas and tips to get the best photos and we were happy to follow his lead, but he was also flexible with us throughout the day which made things really easy.”
Wishing you all the best, Kendall and Matthew! Thank you for choosing Florent Vidal Photography to capture your wedding day.
