Ask the Expert: Beauty tips on how to look amazing on your wedding day
A woman looks her most beautiful on her wedding day.
But as every woman knows, looking your best doesn’t happen overnight. It’s a process of taking care of yourself, eating healthily, exercising and of course, a beauty routine that will ensure you’re looking radiant on one of the most special days of your life.
We consulted with hair and beauty expert, Lyndle Bryan, from Sydney’s Hair on the Move 2U team to answer some of bride’s most common questions and to find out their best wedding day beauty tips:
Colour changes before the big day?
If you are thinking about a colour change, the earlier the better, think a year to 9 months beforehand, then plan your dates working back from your wedding dates, pre-booking all your up and coming appointments to ensure that you are getting your hair done the week before the wedding. We often choose to do a full heads of foils for a gradual more even natural lift, as we do not want to do anything to comprise the condition of your hair, we like to add our Structure repair treatment into your colour and use our structure repair treatments weekly after colour to keep the hair looking healthy and feeling strong.
When should I do a wedding make-up trial?
We strongly recommend that you do your trial as soon as you have your wedding dress. The dress is going help determine what style/ theme you might be going for, whether you know it or not. We ask you to have some overall idea on the looks you might like. Often once your stylist sees your dress and theme they might have some suggestions of their own.
The biggest problem we see is a bride who likes so many looks that she really does not know what she wants. Although a trial is just that, if you are not somewhat clear on what you are hoping to achieve it can be hard for your artist to achieve that look on you.
How can I be sure that I like my look on the big day?
If you have any events over the course of your year leading up to your wedding, consider getting your artist or artists in for those events to try different looks on you. This will help you gain even more confidence with your artist and get to try a few different looks to help you decide on what you think will look best on you for your big day.
The ultimate goal is to ensure that you feel comfortable and confident with your artist or artists.
Here are some things to remember:
1 ~ Get all facials from 6 months before the wedding to get your skin prepared and looking its best for your big day, and to give time for any break outs to ease.
2 ~ Get hair coloured and treated a week before, in case there happens to be any over toning or slight error to be reversed.
3 ~ A week before your wedding get all your waxing done to give time for any break outs to heal.
4 ~The night before the wedding, wash hair and blow dry straight if needed. Avoid using any hot irons on your hair.
5 ~ The morning of the wedding cleanse and moisturise your face, try to avoid an SPF as some can make the light reflect off your face in pictures.
6 ~ Brush your teeth before your makeup application as it can leave marks around your mouth, and ruin your foundation.
Most important of all is to enjoy and have fun! Your natural beauty is sure to come out on your big day!
