Byron Bay: A Perfect Wedding Destination
When you think of Byron Bay, it conjures up images of a carefree coastal town, which is a perfect destination for out of town weddings.
Rain was predicted for the weekend of Vanessa & Gavin’s wedding but Byron Bay did not listen to the weather forecast, instead it put on its best show with clear blue skies.
Vanessa and I met ten years ago in Sydney. She has a keen interest in photography and over the years, we saw each other from time to time and talked about photography amongst many things. She had always said that when she gets married I will be her wedding photographer. Fast forward to today, I was very happy when I received an email from her announcing her engagement to Gavin and that she would like me to take the photos of her wedding. And what more? That it would be held in the most eastern point of Australia: Byron Bay.
Vanessa & Gavin’s wedding was the quintessential Byron Bay affair with their garden ceremony held at the famous Cape Byron Lighthouse. Considered as one of New South Wales most amazing locations, not only for its breathtaking ocean view, but also for its historical significance. It surely was an impressive choice for exchanging wedding vows and it was also a perfect location for their couple portraits.
Vanessa & Gavin continued their celebration and joined their guests at the Beach Byron Bay restaurant for their reception. With its absolute beachfront location and views of the hinterland, it was a fitting venue for a relaxed and beach styled wedding.
It’s always a heart stopping moment for the couple and their guests when the bride or the groom surprises each other during the wedding reception. This time, it was Gavin who surprised his new wife and serenaded her with a special song in front of their guests.
